Why I Write About Parenting

WHY I WRITE

I’ve always wanted to start a Mommy blog. Why do I want to write about parenting outside of the pieces I write for publications? Because there are things about being a mom that I might not have space in my published articles, or truths about motherhood that might be too silly or crazy for an established publication.

There are so many things I want to tell moms, and at the crux of it all I want to tell you that it’s okay not to be perfect, it’s okay to make mistakes. I want for you to be able to talk freely about not having this whole motherhood gig figured out yet.

And that it’s okay to ask, you’re not being a bad mom if you reach out and admit that you don’t know what you’re doing most of the time and that you need help. And like you , we all struggle with mom guilt, we too, just like you, feel like we are not doing enough for our children at times. We too have those moments.

I also want you to know that it’s okay to want to escape from your children every once in awhile for your sanity’s sake. You are not being a bad mom for wanting to have a pedicure once a week or wishing you could go on vacation with your husband without the little kids.

I want you to stop listening to people who make you feel like you’re inept at motherhood, you are doing a good job, and those mommy nazis who are making you feel bad feed their children french fries too when no one’s looking.
